General

Are you open to the public? 

Yes! Our hours are:
Monday-Friday 6am-9pm
Saturday 7:30am-4pm
Sunday 8:30am-4pm

Can we walk around the concourse?

Yes, you can – whenever we’re open.

We have an optional donation box at reception if you would like to contribute a gold coin. 

What is the Gymmaster App?

Gymmaster is our booking app which gives you the ability to book into our track/gym classes. You can join online or download the app to your phone.

Do you have changing/shower facilities on site?

Yes we do. You’ll have access to these whenever you are at here for a track or gym session.

Tours

Can I go on a tour? When are they?

Yes of course. In order to come on a tour you’ll need to book in, but we have a minimum number of 10 people per Tour. contact our team on functions@velodrome.nz.

What can we expect to see on the tour?

You’ll get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at New Zealand's high-performance sports setup as well as learn about track racing, the history of the Velodrome and you’ll get to see one of the team New Zealand bikes up close.

How many people can go on a tour?

This will vary depending on your groups needs. We usually require a minimum number of 10 people. Please contact functions@velodrome.nz to discuss.

Will we be able to go on the track or trikes?

We offer both track and tour / trike and tour experiences. Contact functions@velodrome.nz if you are interested.

How long does the tour run for?

The tours normally run for an hour or up to 90 minutes, however we can alter this to suit you. 

Is the tour suitable for wheelchair access?

Yes, please let us know beforehand so we can ensure everyone is able to enjoy it.

Do you host events?

Yes, we have a number of events which you can check out here.

Are they free? Where can I get tickets from if they aren’t?

We run both free and ticketed events. To find out more information on each event head to our events page.

Gym

Is the gym open to the public?

Yes! We have casual rates and membership options. Click here to find our more or get in touch with our team reception@velodrome.nz.

Can I have a look at the gym?

If you are interested in becoming a member our team can show you around.

What hours are you open?

We’re open the same time the velodrome is:

Monday-Friday 6am-9pm
Saturday 7:30am-4pm
Sunday 8:30am-4pm

How old do you need to be to join the gym?

You need to be at least 14 years old. 

Is there a cancellation fee?

No, just send an email to reception@velodrome.nz or phone us on (07) 823 1421 so we can cancel your membership. Please note we do not offer refunds on gym memberships for remaining months unused.

Functions

How many function rooms do you have? How many people can they hold?

We have three function rooms, two of which can be combined into one larger room:

  • Velo Lounge 1 – Between 30 – 80 people
  • Velo Lounge 2 – Between 30 – 80 people
  • Velo Lounge 1 and 2 (can be made in to one room) – Between 60 – 128 people
  • The APL Gallery – Can host 12 people in boardroom style

Do you have kitchen facilities?

Velo Lounge 1 has a servery kitchen.

Do you offer catering? Can we supply our own?

We have a number of options available, or you are welcome to supply your own. Please contact functions@velodrome.nz to discuss this further.

What are your fees?

Is there anything available for group activities?

Yes! You can take a tour or have a go on the track or trikes.

Can I try the Trikes?

Yes, contact our reception team on reception@velodrome.nz or phone (07) 823 1421 to book a time.

When are the Trike sessions?

Our Community Trikes sessions run at various times across the week. You must pre book to attend a session. This can’t be done online so you’ll need to contact our reception team on reception@velodrome.nz or phone (07) 823 1421 to book.

Track

Can we come in and see the Track?

Yes, it is open to the public Monday-Friday 6am-9pm, Saturday 7:30am-4pm and Sunday 8:30am-4pm. You can click here to see what’s happening on the track.

Can I go on the track?

Yes, we have ‘Have a Go’ sessions available and several regular track sessions for accredited riders.  You do not need any experience to take part in our Have-a-Go sessions.

How much is it to ride on the track and what do I need?

The sessions prices vary so it is best to check here for pricing or here if you are interested in doing a Have-a-Go session.

You don’t need your own track bike or helmet to ride on the track, but you will need some closed toe shoes. If you wish to bring your cycling shoes, they will need to have Shimano cleats.

How old do you need to be to ride on the track?

You need to be at least 10 years old and 135cm tall so you can fit our bikes.

Do I need my own bike to ride on the track?

No, you don’t. We have hire bikes available.

Can we watch the New Zealand team train?

Yes, check our schedule here. The New Zealand team is coloured in yellow.

How long does my accreditation last for?

It is valid for 12 months. If you do not ride for 12 months, you’ll need to redo accreditation 3 and 4 or get in touch with us to see which sessions best suits you.

What are the next steps after I complete my accreditation?

Once you complete your accreditation it is best to attend one of our Fitness Level 1 or Fitness Level 2 classes before moving to the more advanced sessions.

Do you run private sessions? Can I hire the track?

Yes, contact us to discuss options.

Can I make modifications to the hire bikes? E.g. swapping the pedals?

No.
